Description

A sweet and cozy recipe for moist Apple Crumb Bread topped with a buttery crumb mixture and a hint of cinnamon, ideal for autumn.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup plus 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup peeled, chopped apples
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the crumb topping ingredients—3 tablespoons sugar, 3 tablespoons brown sugar, 1/2 cup plus 3 tablespoons flour, and 5 tablespoons melted butter. Mix until it’s clumpy and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together 2 1/2 cups flour, 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and 2 teaspoons cinnamon.
  4. In another bowl, mix 3/4 cups sugar, 2 large eggs, and 1/2 cup melted butter. Stir in 1 cup milk and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla.
  5. Gently combine the wet and dry mixtures until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped apples.
  7. Scoop the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Sprinkle the crumb topping over the batter and lightly press it in.
  9. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let the loaf cool completely in the pan.
  11. Whisk together the glaze ingredients—1 cup powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon milk, and 1 tablespoon maple syrup, then drizzle over the cooled loaf.

Notes

For a lighter version, consider replacing half the sugar with applesauce or using plant-based milk and coconut oil as substitutes.
