Description

Recreate the iconic Big Mac at home with juicy beef patties, creamy special sauce, and crisp lettuce for a nostalgic experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sweet pickle relish
  • 2 tsp. Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp. beef bouillon
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • Kosher salt (to taste)
  • Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped yellow onion
  • 1 lb. (80% lean) ground beef
  • 4 sesame seed hamburger buns (plus 4 bottom buns)
  • 2 tsp. neutral oil
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 24 dill pickle chips

Instructions

  1. Make the Sauce: In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, Dijon mustard, paprika, sugar, onion powder, beef bouillon, and garlic powder. Season with salt and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to assemble.
  2. Prepare the Onions: In a small bowl, cover the finely chopped onions with cold water. Set aside.
  3. Form the Patties: Shape the ground beef into eight patties, slightly larger than the buns. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Toast the Buns: Heat neutral oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Toast buns cut side down until browned, about 1 minute.
  5. Cook the Patties: In the same skillet, cook four patties, flipping halfway through until browned, about 1-2 minutes per side. Repeat with remaining patties.
  6. Assemble the Big Mac: Drain onions. Spread sauce on the bottom bun, add cheese, onions, lettuce, pickles, and a patty. Layer again with another bottom bun, sauce, onions, lettuce, pickles, and a second patty. Top with the top bun.
