Description
A delightful twist on a classic comfort food featuring savory beef patties and rich mushroom gravy.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, then form into four oval-shaped patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat until shimmering. Cook the patties for 5-6 minutes on each side until nicely browned. Once seared, set them aside on a plate.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for about 3-4 minutes, or until softened and beginning to brown.
- Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir well. Gradually pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps, and let the gravy simmer until it thickens.
- Return the seared patties to the skillet, nestling them into the gravy. Cover and simmer for about 10-15 minutes to meld the flavors.
- Serve warm, topped with the rich mushroom gravy and garnished with fresh parsley.
Notes
Consider using seasoned breadcrumbs for added flavor. A splash of beef broth while cooking the patties can enhance the gravy’s richness.
