Description

A delightful twist on a classic comfort food featuring savory beef patties and rich mushroom gravy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, then form into four oval-shaped patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat until shimmering. Cook the patties for 5-6 minutes on each side until nicely browned. Once seared, set them aside on a plate.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for about 3-4 minutes, or until softened and beginning to brown.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir well. Gradually pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps, and let the gravy simmer until it thickens.
  5. Return the seared patties to the skillet, nestling them into the gravy. Cover and simmer for about 10-15 minutes to meld the flavors.
  6. Serve warm, topped with the rich mushroom gravy and garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

Consider using seasoned breadcrumbs for added flavor. A splash of beef broth while cooking the patties can enhance the gravy’s richness.
