Description

This Bubbly, Crispy Potato Gratin layers creamy goodness with vibrant flavors, making it a decadent side for any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1⁄2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup grated Gruyere cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh thyme (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and minced garlic. Heat gently over medium heat until warm.
  3. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, seasoning with salt, pepper, and half of the Parmesan cheese.
  4. Pour half of the cream mixture over the first layer of potatoes.
  5. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and top with Gruyere cheese.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

You can make this gratin ahead of time and refrigerate it. Consider adding sautéed mushrooms or spinach for healthier variations.
