Description

Delightfully quick and easy Butter Pecan Donuts that bring a warm, nostalgic taste reminiscent of family gatherings with a perfect balance of sweet and nutty flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped toasted pecans
  • For the glaze:
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1/4 cup chopped toasted pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spread the pecans on a baking sheet and toast them for 5 to 7 minutes until fragrant. Allow them to cool and then chop finely.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the brown sugar, eggs, melted butter, buttermilk, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, then gently fold in the chopped pecans until evenly distributed.
  5. Grease a donut pan, fill each cavity with the batter, and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the tops spring back when pressed.
  6. Let them cool for about 5 minutes before transferring the donuts to a rack.
  7. For the glaze, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then add brown sugar and milk. Whisk until dissolved and creamy, then stir in vanilla and whisk in the powdered sugar until smooth.
  8. Dip each cooled donut into the glaze, allowing any excess to drip off, then sprinkle with chopped toasted pecans. Let set for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

These donuts can be served warm or cold, and are a great treat for any occasion.
