- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons instant yeast
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3 cups flour
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup young cheese
- 1/2 cup cheese spread
- 1 yellow onion, thinly sliced
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine lukewarm milk with honey and instant yeast. Let it rest for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add beaten egg to the yeast mixture, then stir in melted butter, flour, and salt. Knead for 10-12 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the bowl and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Blend young cheese and cheese spread in a food processor until smooth. Divide into 6 portions.
- Mix sliced onion with grated cheese for topping.
- Deflate dough, divide into 6 portions, and roll into balls.
- Flatten each dough ball, place cheese filling in center, fold edges over and seal.
- Flatten filled dough balls to about 3/4 inch thick.
- Place on baking sheet, brush tops with beaten egg, and sprinkle onion mixture over
- Let rolls rise uncovered for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°F and bake for 12-18 minutes until golden brown.
