Description

Comforting cheese-stuffed bread rolls with a golden crust and gooey cheese center, perfect for gatherings or family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons instant yeast
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup young cheese
  • 1/2 cup cheese spread
  • 1 yellow onion, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine lukewarm milk with honey and instant yeast. Let it rest for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add beaten egg to the yeast mixture, then stir in melted butter, flour, and salt. Knead for 10-12 minutes until smooth.
  3. Cover the bowl and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  4. Blend young cheese and cheese spread in a food processor until smooth. Divide into 6 portions.
  5. Mix sliced onion with grated cheese for topping.
  6. Deflate dough, divide into 6 portions, and roll into balls.
  7. Flatten each dough ball, place cheese filling in center, fold edges over and seal.
  8. Flatten filled dough balls to about 3/4 inch thick.
  9. Place on baking sheet, brush tops with beaten egg, and sprinkle onion mixture over
  10. Let rolls rise uncovered for 30 minutes.
  11. Preheat oven to 400°F and bake for 12-18 minutes until golden brown.
