Description

Recreate the beloved taste of Chick-fil-A with these homemade chicken nuggets that are easy to make and sure to please everyone.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large chicken breasts, chopped into irregular bite-size pieces
  • 1 1/2 cups pickle juice
  • 4 garlic cloves, smashed and peeled
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 Tbsp. powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. paprika
  • 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 3 Tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 1 Tbsp. yellow mustard
  • 2 tsp. honey

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, yellow mustard, and honey to create the Chick-fil-A sauce. Set aside.
  2. Combine the chicken pieces, pickle juice, smashed garlic, kosher salt, and black pepper in a large plastic bag. Massage the marinade into the chicken, seal the bag, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  3. Heat oil in a pot to 350°F. Create your dredging stations: whisk together the eggs and milk in one bowl, and combine flour, powdered sugar, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in another.
  4. Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator, drain, and pat dry. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Dredge each chicken piece in the egg mixture, then coat in the flour mixture.
  6. Fry the chicken nuggets in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden-brown, then drain on paper towels and season with additional salt.
  7. Serve immediately with the homemade Chick-fil-A sauce.

Notes

For deeper flavors, marinate the chicken overnight. You can air fry the nuggets for a healthier cooking method.
