Description

A rich and moist chocolate cake layered with smooth ganache, perfect for celebrations and sweet cravings.


Ingredients

  • 2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 3/4 Cup Cocoa Powder
  • 1 tsp. Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp. Kosher Salt
  • 1 Cup Hot Coffee
  • 1 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Packed Brown Sugar
  • 3/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1/2 Cup Sour Cream
  • 2 Cups Chocolate Chips
  • 1 Cup Heavy Cream
  • Sprinkles, for decorating

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line two 9-inch cake pans with parchment paper and generously grease them with cooking spray.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In a large measuring cup, whisk together hot coffee, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined.
  5. Add vegetable oil and sour cream, whisking until incorporated.
  6. Pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients and gently whisk until just combined.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between prepared pans.
  8. Bake for 20 to 22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Allow cakes to cool in the pans for 15 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. For the ganache, place chocolate chips in a bowl. Heat heavy cream until bubbling and pour over chocolate. Let sit for 1 minute then whisk until smooth. Cool to thicken.
  11. Beat ganache until light in color and thick (about 5-10 minutes).
  12. Layer the cake, spreading half the ganache between layers and the remaining on top. Decorate with sprinkles.
