- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar, divided
- 2 cups cold water
- 2/3 cup vegetable oil
- 2 Tbsp white vinegar
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 (8-oz.) bar cream cheese, room temperature
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 13-inch by 9-inch pan with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, and 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar. Gradually add cold water, oil, vinegar, and vanilla, whisking until smooth.
- In a medium bowl, whisk the egg, cream cheese, and remaining 1/4 cup sugar until smooth. Fold in chocolate chips, then dollop over the chocolate batter.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until a tester comes out clean. Let cool in the pan before slicing.
Notes
Store any uneaten portions in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. For longer storage, freeze portions wrapped in plastic wrap and stored in a freezer bag.
