Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb fresh crab meat
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 egg
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the crab meat, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, egg, chopped green onions, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Take small portions of the mixture and form them into patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
- In a large skillet, heat a layer of oil over medium heat until it glimmers.
- Carefully add the crab cakes to the skillet and fry them for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the crab cakes from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as zesty remoulade or tangy tartar sauce.
Notes
For a spicy version, consider adding diced jalapeños or hot sauce to the mixture. Refrigerate mixture for 30 minutes before shaping for better patty formation.
