Description

A comforting twist on traditional cabbage rolls, this Crockpot Cabbage Roll Casserole combines hearty ingredients for a flavorful family meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 large head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 cup rice (white or brown)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 oz)
  • 1 can tomato sauce (15 oz)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup beef or chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef or turkey with chopped onion and minced garlic in a skillet over medium heat for 5-7 minutes.
  2. In a large crockpot, spread half of the chopped cabbage evenly across the bottom.
  3. Spoon half of the cooked meat mixture on top of the cabbage layer.
  4. Evenly distribute half of the rice over the meat layer.
  5. Gently pour half of the diced tomatoes and tomato sauce over the rice.
  6. Repeat the layering process with the remaining ingredients: cabbage, meat mixture, rice, diced tomatoes, and tomato sauce.
  7. Carefully pour the broth over the top of the final layer.
  8. Sprinkle paprika, salt, and pepper on top.
  9. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the cabbage is tender.
  10. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Consider adding leftover vegetables like bell peppers or carrots for extra nutrition. Top with cheese in the last 30 minutes for a gooey finish.
