- 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 large head of cabbage, chopped
- 1 cup rice (white or brown)
- 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 oz)
- 1 can tomato sauce (15 oz)
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup beef or chicken broth
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef or turkey with chopped onion and minced garlic in a skillet over medium heat for 5-7 minutes.
- In a large crockpot, spread half of the chopped cabbage evenly across the bottom.
- Spoon half of the cooked meat mixture on top of the cabbage layer.
- Evenly distribute half of the rice over the meat layer.
- Gently pour half of the diced tomatoes and tomato sauce over the rice.
- Repeat the layering process with the remaining ingredients: cabbage, meat mixture, rice, diced tomatoes, and tomato sauce.
- Carefully pour the broth over the top of the final layer.
- Sprinkle paprika, salt, and pepper on top.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the cabbage is tender.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
Consider adding leftover vegetables like bell peppers or carrots for extra nutrition. Top with cheese in the last 30 minutes for a gooey finish.
