A comforting and hearty dish featuring layers of savory ground beef, vegetables, and creamy mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or lamb until browned, draining any excess fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and diced carrots, cooking until softened.
  4. Stir in the frozen peas, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper; let simmer for about 5 minutes.
  5. Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  6. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly on top of the meat mixture.
  7. If using, sprinkle shredded cheese over the mashed potatoes.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until heated through and golden on top.
  9. Allow cooling for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider incorporating fresh herbs or using sweet potatoes for the topping.
