Description

A creamy and festive dessert combining traditional eggnog flavors with a spiced cranberry sauce, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups eggnog
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) unflavored gelatin
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for cranberry sauce)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons dark rum (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bloom the Gelatin: Sprinkle the gelatin over cold water in a small bowl. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes.
  2. Heat the Cream and Eggnog: In a saucepan, combine eggnog and heavy cream. Warm it over medium heat until steaming but not boiling.
  3. Sweeten the Mixture: Add granulated sugar and vanilla extract to the hot cream mix, stirring until dissolved.
  4. Incorporate the Gelatin: Remove from heat and stir in bloomed gelatin until fully dissolved.
  5. Pour into Glassware: Pour the mixture into serving glasses or ramekins and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  6. Prepare the Cranberry Sauce: In a saucepan, combine cranberries, orange juice, and water with orange zest and sugar. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
  7. Finish the Sauce: Stir in dark rum if using, then allow to cool completely.
  8. Assemble the Dessert: Once panna cotta has set, spoon cranberry sauce over each portion.
  9. Add a Touch of Elegance: Garnish with orange zest or sugared cranberries.
  10. Serve and Enjoy: Present chilled and enjoy with friends and family.

Notes

Ensure the gelatin blooms properly and do not overheat the mixture to avoid curdling. Chill thoroughly for optimal texture.
