Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
- In a separate bowl, mix the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring gently to form a thick batter.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove the donuts and drain on paper towels.
- In a bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Add vanilla extract for flavor.
- Fill cooled donuts with the vanilla cream using a piping bag.
- Melt chocolate chips and vegetable oil in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth.
- Dip the tops of the filled donuts in the melted glaze and set on a wire rack to harden.
