Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for filling)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring gently to form a thick batter.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Remove the donuts and drain on paper towels.
  7. In a bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Add vanilla extract for flavor.
  8. Fill cooled donuts with the vanilla cream using a piping bag.
  9. Melt chocolate chips and vegetable oil in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth.
  10. Dip the tops of the filled donuts in the melted glaze and set on a wire rack to harden.
