Description

Delight in these spooky, green Rice Krispie treats perfect for Halloween, combining chewy marshmallows, crispy cereal, and playful candy eyes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 ounces large marshmallows (mini marshmallows also work)
  • 8 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ cup marshmallow fluff
  • 5–8 drops green food coloring
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 18 large candy eyes
  • 9 small Tootsie Rolls
  • ½ cup black or brown icing

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until it begins to bubble.
  2. Add in the marshmallows and marshmallow fluff, stirring continuously until smooth.
  3. Add 5–8 drops of green food coloring and stir until well mixed.
  4. Combine the marshmallow mixture with Rice Krispies in a large bowl, ensuring even coating.
  5. Press the mixture into a greased 9×13 dish and refrigerate for about 15 minutes.
  6. Cut into 3×4-inch squares.
  7. Melt dark chocolate chips with vegetable oil in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds.
  8. Dip the top of each treat into melted chocolate to create Frankenstein’s hair and let set.
  9. Use icing to attach candy eyes and create mouths on each treat.
  10. Cut Tootsie Rolls in half and stick them to the sides of each treat as bolts.
  11. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

These treats are best enjoyed fresh within a week when stored in an airtight container. For a healthier version, substitute low-sugar marshmallows and dairy-free butter.
