Description

A comforting dish featuring the rich flavors of beef, garlic, and butter, enveloped in perfectly cooked pasta.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz linguine or spaghetti
  • 1 lb ground beef (85% lean recommended)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup reserved pasta water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, add the pasta, and cook until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. Brown the Beef: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and season with salt and black pepper. Brown for 6-8 minutes, then remove the beef and set aside.
  3. Caramelize the Onions: In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium, melt 2 tablespoons of butter, add onions, and cook for 10-12 minutes until caramelized.
  4. Sauté the Garlic: Stir in minced garlic and optional red pepper flakes, sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes without burning the garlic.
  5. Combine Everything: Add remaining butter, return browned beef, and pour in reserved pasta water. Mix well.
  6. Toss the Pasta: Gently toss the drained pasta into the skillet, ensuring it’s coated with sauce. Allow simmering for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Turn off heat, garnish with parsley and optional Parmesan cheese, and serve hot.

Notes

For variations, consider adding fresh herbs, additional vegetables, or different types of cheese.
