Description

Delightfully soft sugar cookies shaped like ghosts, topped with creamy frosting—perfect for Halloween festivities.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • For the Frosting: 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • Extras: Chocolate chips or raisins for spooky ghost eyes

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar in a bowl.
  2. Cream the softened butter and sugar until fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg, vanilla, and almond extracts.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture until a soft dough forms.
  5. Divide the dough, wrap it, and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  6. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick and use ghost-shaped cookie cutters to make shapes.
  7. Bake at 375°F for 7 minutes, until the edges start to color.
  8. Allow to cool, then frost with cream cheese icing and add chocolate chips or raisins for eyes.
