- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 2 large onions, sliced into thick rings
- 4 slices of cheese (American, Swiss, or your favorite)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional condiments: mustard or ketchup
- Olive oil or cooking spray for grilling
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil or cooking spray.
- Slice the onions into thick rings.
- In a large bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper, then shape into patties slightly larger than the onion rings.
- Grill the onion rings for 5-7 minutes until caramelized and tender.
- Grill the beef patties for 4-5 minutes on one side, flip, add cheese, and grill for another 4-5 minutes until done.
- Assemble the burgers with an onion ring, beef patty, melted cheese, and another onion ring on top.
- Serve hot with your favorite condiments.
Notes
To enhance flavor, marinate the beef, experiment with different cheeses, or caramelize onion rings in balsamic vinegar.
