Description

A delightful homemade treat blending cool mint flavor with rich chocolate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream and whole milk, stirring until steaming but not boiling.
  2. Remove from heat, add fresh mint leaves, cover, and steep for 30 minutes.
  3. Strain out the mint leaves, return the mixture to low heat, add sugar and vanilla, stirring until dissolved.
  4. Let the mixture cool at room temperature, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  5. Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer’s instructions until soft-serve consistency.
  7. Transfer to an airtight container and freeze for about 4 hours or until firm.

Notes

For enhanced mint flavor, consider adding peppermint extract after cooling. Optional mix-ins include crushed Oreos or a sprinkle of sea salt.
