- 8 oz dried noodles (spaghetti, ramen, or linguine)
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 3 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 tsp ginger (freshly grated)
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 2 tsp cornstarch (mixed with 2 tsp water)
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots
- 3 green onions (sliced thinly)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Cook the noodles in boiling water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat and brown the ground beef.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes.
- Add the beef broth to the sauce mixture and combine it with the browned beef in the skillet. Let it simmer.
- Introduce the cornstarch slurry to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring until it thickens.
- Toss the cooked noodles and shredded carrots into the skillet, mixing well to combine.
- Serve in plates and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.
Notes
For a lighter version, consider substituting ground beef with ground turkey or chicken. Add more colorful vegetables for added nutrition.
