Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh spinach
- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 packages of store-bought refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits per package)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the cleaned and chopped spinach for about 3-4 minutes until wilted. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir until smooth.
- Add the cooked spinach to the cream cheese mixture and mix thoroughly.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and shredded mozzarella cheese until evenly distributed.
- Open the packages of biscuit dough and separate the biscuits. Flatten each biscuit slightly with your hands.
- Use a tablespoon to scoop some of the spinach dip mixture onto the center of each flattened biscuit and fold the sides over to encase the filling into a ball.
- On a parchment-lined baking sheet, arrange the biscuit balls in a Christmas tree shape.
- Brush the tops of the biscuit dough with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if desired.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream and mayonnaise. You can also use low-fat cream cheese or add extra veggies for added nutrition.
