Ingredients
- Smoked sausage (such as andouille or kielbasa)
- Pasta (short or long shapes, like penne or fettuccine)
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Low sodium chicken broth
- Fresh heavy cream
- Local raw honey
- Low sodium soy sauce
- Fresh garlic, minced
- Apple cider vinegar
- Red pepper flakes
- Cornstarch
- Water
- Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- Chopped parsley or basil
- Extra red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced sausage and sear for about 7 minutes until browned. Remove from skillet.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes until smooth.
- In the same skillet, pour in chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring gently. Add pasta and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 10-12 minutes until al dente.
- Stir in the honey garlic sauce and mix cornstarch with water. Add to skillet and simmer for 3 minutes until sauce thickens.
- Add the sausage back to the skillet, mixing for 2 minutes until everything is heated through. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
- Garnish with Parmesan cheese and parsley or basil before serving.
Notes
Feel free to use different types of sausage or pasta to customize the dish. This recipe is also great for meal prep.
