Description

Indulge in the nostalgic flavors of tiramisu combined with rich, fudgy brownies, layered with creamy mascarpone and coffee.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp instant espresso powder or strong brewed coffee, reduced
  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp brewed coffee or espresso, cooled
  • 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar (optional)
  • 2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla, whisking until thick and pale.
  3. Stir in the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and espresso powder, mixing just until combined.
  4. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
  5. In another bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, egg yolk, and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract along with the brewed coffee until smooth.
  6. Spoon the mascarpone mixture over the brownie batter and gently swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, until the edges are set and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Let cool for at least 30 minutes. While still warm, brush the top with brewed coffee mixed with sugar, if desired.
  9. Refrigerate for 1–2 hours before slicing to allow the mascarpone layer to set.
  10. Dust with cocoa powder and cut into squares. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

For a healthier twist, consider using low-sugar alternatives and gluten-free flour. You can substitute mascarpone with Greek yogurt and cream cheese for a lighter version.
