- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then incorporate the mashed bananas and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
- If desired, fold in the chopped walnuts or pecans.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
