- 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Start by melting the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously until it foams and turns golden brown. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the granulated and brown sugars. Pour in the warm brown butter and mix until well dissolved.
- Stir in the eggs and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt. Gradually fold this mixture into the wet ingredients.
- Pour the thick batter into a greased 9×9 inch baking dish and spread evenly. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes. A toothpick inserted should come out with moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing into squares.
Notes
Store at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month. For a warm treat, microwave for 10-15 seconds.
