- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup crushed candy canes plus extra for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter gently and stir in the granulated and brown sugars until well combined.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool slightly; whisk in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the cocoa powder and flour, then gradually stir this into the wet ingredients.
- Fold in half of the crushed candy canes, reserving the rest for the topping.
- Pour the brownie batter into your prepared dish and sprinkle the remaining candy canes on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean.
- Let the brownies cool completely before slicing into squares.
