Description

A delightful homemade version of the classic candy bar, featuring rich nougat, gooey caramel, and a smooth chocolate coating.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup caramels, unwrapped
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, butter, and evaporated milk. Place over medium heat and stir constantly.
  2. Continue stirring until the mixture comes to a boil, then cook for about 5 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract, mini marshmallows, and milk chocolate chips. Stir until smooth and creamy.
  4. Pour the nougat mixture into a greased 8×8 inch pan, spreading it evenly. Allow to chill for 30 minutes.
  5. In a small saucepan, combine caramels and milk; heat over low until melted and smooth.
  6. Pour the caramel over the set nougat and spread it evenly. Chill again for 30 minutes.
  7. Once set, cut the nougat and caramel into bars.
  8. Melt the remaining milk chocolate chips and dip each bar, allowing excess to drip off.
  9. Place dipped bars on a parchment-lined tray and allow to set until chocolate hardens.

Notes

For best results, allow the nougat to cook fully before removing from heat. Try using flavored extracts for a unique twist.
