Description

A delightful blend of flavor and crunch, these Southern Cheddar and Pecan Crackers combine the richness of cheddar cheese with the nutty taste of pecans, perfect for gatherings or snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 tablespoons cold water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cheddar cheese, chopped pecans, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Stir until evenly incorporated.
  3. Add the softened butter and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gradually add cold water, mixing until the dough comes together.
  5. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick on a floured surface.
  6. Cut into desired shapes with a cookie cutter or knife.
  7. Place cut shapes on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Customize the cheese for different flavors and add herbs for extra aroma. Dough can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
