Description

Delightful Spider Cookies combining creamy peanut butter with chocolate surprises, perfect for Halloween festivities.


Ingredients

  • ½ cup shortening
  • ½ cup peanut butter
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup white sugar for rolling
  • 24 chocolate candy spheres (such as Lindt Lindor Truffles), chilled
  • 48 candy eyeballs
  • ½ cup prepared chocolate frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment.
  2. Beat shortening, peanut butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the beaten egg, milk, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. Gradually stir in flour, baking soda, and salt until a dough forms.
  5. Shape the dough into 48 balls, roll each in sugar, and place on lined sheets.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Press a dimple in each warm cookie for the chocolate candy.
  8. Once cooled, cut chocolate truffles in half and place one on each cookie.
  9. Use chocolate frosting to attach candy eyeballs and pipe spider legs.
  10. Allow to set for 30 minutes.
